Why does the grass on the other side look greener?

Published by msgemini at 9:58 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Two weeks ago I visited my Grandparents house and as usual their grass was beautiful!! No weeds, no dandelions, an amazing shade of green, thick and perfectly trimmed. I said “Grand daddy your grass is always perfect what do you do?” he replied “Baby, I start planting grass seed the year before, I work on it through the winter and I water it a lot” he smiled with this proud expression and said “I put a lot of work into it baby, a lot of work.” Through our visit he imparted his “grass upkeep wisdom” into my husband (we always leave there with greater knowledge about something from them), I over heard him explain all his tricks from how to cut the grass, when to lay what kind of seed, what time of day to water etc. This was mind blowing to me because I thought all you needed to do was cut and water when mother nature was not doing her part then beautiful grass would be produced. A few things came to me as it relates to marriage during our visit (told you we always leave with greater knowledge). 1. The grass looks greener on the other side – Marriage is work and sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side and I’m sure we have all thought or will think “If I was with so and so” or “If only my husband was like so and so”. Here is my point the grass may look greener but the water bill may be higher, it needs more care and attention and it just might be artificial turf (not my grampsies). Think about it! 2. Marriage takes maintenance – First you have to start sowing into your marriage early don’t wait until something goes wrong, read books on marriage, give small from -the –heart-just- because gifts, send flirty text messages. Don’t wait until you have dead spots (it’s not too late if spots are dead). Second, work on it thru the winter. Even when things seem cold and dead in your marriage, work on it (trust me I know it’s hard). Thirdly, anything living needs water to grow. Shower your spouse and your marriage with positive water, salt water (negative) will kill your marriage.3. You get what you give- Having a good marriage takes a lot of work but the end result will be something you can be proud of. You can’t just cut it once a week and wait on Mother Nature to water it and expect a beautiful marriage. Sometimes you have to pull weeds, plant seeds, cut it (no pun), watch what you put on it and when you put it there (know what to say and when to say it) and last but definitely not least don’t let anyone walk in or on your grass (marriage)!!!! Until next time……………..Go do some yard work!!!!!!
